Board of Trustees meeting - Launch of Public Input Campaign
Trustees, in their March 29th meeting, gave the green light to move forward with the public input campaign that will give neighbors, stakeholders, and the broad public chances to have direct input into the way the development will look, feel, and the types of units to be built. In addition, we'll be asking you about things like how you'd like us to weigh childcare space against affordability of the housing, or whether there are specific ideas you have for our Carbonate Street itself is laid out and designed.
Neighbors Meetings
The Town and Fading West hosted two separate meetings to hear directly from adjacent and nearby neighbors of the properties. The first had adjacent homeowners and nearby residents participating, while the second hosted residents from the Collegiate Commons apartments.
Community Design Charrette & Farm Open House
This evening will be one of two chances you'll have to provide in-person feedback and ideas into this development.
We'll start at 5pm with an hour-long drop-in open house of a locally factory-built house at The Farm - 352 Barnwood Dr. Come on by and get a feel for the product the developer (Fading West) is producing from its modular home factory right here in BV!
Then, we'll move to the Community Center (715 E. Main St) at 6:30pm for a brief presentation followed by what is called a design charrette - interactive activities meant to elicit your feedback and ideas on the design and site layout of the development!
Food will be provided at the community center!
Board of Trustees meeting - update
In their May 10th meeting, the Board heard an update from staff on the progress of the public input campaign and gave a go-ahead to remove the economic development commercial space from the development as well as a high-level green light to proceed with collaborative designs with South Main in order to maximize the buildable lots on the Southern parcel.
See the documents section below for the staff update report that was provided to the board.
2nd Public Input Meeting!
Come join us at 5:30pm at the community center (715 E. Main St) to see the 2nd draft of the site concept plan and provide your feedback. Food will be provided!
Sketch Plan Presentation & Joint Meeting
The Planning & Zoning Commission joined the Board of Trustees for a work session focused on the Carbonate sketch plan. Feedback was given as well as an overall green light for the conceptual layout, unit counts, parking concepts, and street design.
Carbonate St deed restrictions work session
The Board of Trustees discussed deed restriction and affordability covenants with staff and Fading West. A recording of that work session can be found here.
