Carbonate Street- Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On September 23, 2025, a ribbon cutting event was held at the new Early Childcare Center on Carbonate Street to celebrate the completion of the exterior construction of the center. The event also highlighted the project as a whole, emphasizing the importance of the Midland Apartents next door, consisting of 60 units of deed restricted affordable housing that help to fill a gap in the community's housing stock. The event was attended by County Commissioner Gina Lucrezi, members of the Buena Vista Board of Trustees including Mayor Libby Fay, members of Town Staff, representatives from Colorado Department of Local Affairs, employees of Fading West, Collegiate Peaks Bank and Chaffee Housing Authority, a member of the office of Representative Brittany Pettersen, and other members of the development community. Several project partners spoke about the process of funding the development, as well as the impact that the apartments and childcare facility will have on the community.
