The Town is moving forward with a set of coordinated improvements that will make River Park safer, easier to navigate, and more accessible for everyone. These upgrades focus on key areas like trails, restrooms, the bridge, and river access to better support walking, biking, boating, and gathering along the river.

These projects turn years of community planning into on-the-ground improvements, helping create a riverfront that works better for residents, visitors, and families of all abilities.

What’s Being Improved?

The project includes four upgrades in River Park:

  • Whipple Bridge – new decking to improve safety and durability

  • Park Restrooms – accessibility upgrades and interior improvements

  • Boat Ramp – surface and safety enhancements

  • Rock N Roll Trail – trail surface and connection improvements

Together, these updates improve how people move through the park and access the river.

Why This Project Matters

River Park connects neighborhoods, trails, and the river corridor. Improving these facilities helps:

  • Reduce conflicts between walkers, cyclists, and vehicles

  • Improve access for people with mobility challenges

  • Support outdoor recreation and healthy activity

  • Make wayfinding clearer and circulation safer

  • Extend the life of heavily used infrastructure

This work also puts long-adopted Town plans into action, especially those focused on trail connections, safety, and inclusive recreation.

How It’s Funded

This project is supported by:

  • A State of Colorado OEDIT grant

  • Local Conservation Trust Fund dollars

Using grant funding helps reduce the impact on local taxpayers while delivering long-planned improvements.

Project Timing

Construction is planned to begin in FY2026, following required environmental review, and is expected to be completed within the same year.
