For Best Watering Practices, abide by the following outside watering schedule:

  • Odd number addresses: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
  • Even number addresses: Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
  • No watering lawns between 10AM and 6PM
  • No watering on Monday

The town encourages everyone to use water efficiently. You can help reduce the risk of additional water restrictions by following summer water rules.

USE BEST PRACTICES AND TIPS FOR EFFICIENT OUTDOOR WATER USE

  • Water during cooler times of the day, early morning and evening
  • Do not water lawns between 10AM and 6 PM
  • Water no more than (3) days per week.
  • Do not allow water to pull in gutters, streets, and alleys.
  • Do not allow water to spray on concrete and asphalt.
  • Do not irrigate while it's raining or during high winds.
  • Use a hose with a shut-off valve when washing your car.
  • Adjust your sprinklers for max efficiency and repair any leaks
  • Install soil moisture and water sensors.

We all need to do our part and MAKE EVERY DROP COUNT!

1 inch of water per week is a good goal. Water, rest, water. To maximize efficiency and allow the soil time to soak up water, add multiple start times and reduce each zone's watering time. For example, for a 14-minute run time, irrigate one zone for 7 minutes, turn off while another zone is irrigated, then irrigate the first zone again for 7 minutes to achieve the total 14-minute run time.

Helpful reminder: If you water during the heat of the day, you may lose up to 50% of the water to evaporation!

Please contact Public Works at 719-395-6898 if you have any questions or need help applying these practices.

The water fill station operations will be intermittently closed throughout the summer, due to water restrictions to relieve pressure on the distribution system and allow the water storage tanks to catch up. To check the availability, please call Public Works in advance at 719-395-6898.
