Project title: 2025 Columbine Park

Project purpose or justification: This project supports the goals outlined in Buena Vista’s Trails Master Plan and fulfills Action Item 2.1 of the Public Park Inventory, which calls for the regular maintenance and upkeep of park facilities. Repainting the exterior of the public restroom facility enhances the overall appearance, safety, and usability of a key amenity within the Town’s park system. As a frequently used trailhead and park access point, the facility contributes directly to residents’ and visitors’ recreational experiences. Maintaining it in good condition reinforces Buena Vista’s commitment to high-quality, well-maintained public spaces that promote outdoor activity, community pride, and long-term infrastructure stewardship.

Project scope:

Site Preparation

  • Conduct a site inspection to assess existing conditions.

  • Post appropriate signage to notify the public of ongoing work and ensure safety.

  • Clear the surrounding area of debris, vegetation, or items obstructing access to the building exterior.

Surface Preparation

  • Pressure wash exterior surfaces to remove dirt, mildew, and peeling paint.

  • Scrape, sand, and prime areas where old paint is flaking or damaged.

  • Repair minor surface imperfections (e.g., small cracks or holes) as needed before painting.

Painting

  • Apply a high-quality, weather-resistant exterior paint approved for municipal facilities.

  • Use colors and finishes in alignment with Town design standards or previously approved palettes.

  • Apply a minimum of two coats or as specified by the manufacturer for optimal coverage and durability.

Clean-Up

  • Remove all equipment, materials, and debris from the site.

  • Ensure no paint residue is left on non-painted surfaces (e.g., windows, signage).

  • Restore any disrupted landscaping or surrounding areas.

Quality Assurance

  • Final walkthrough with Town staff to verify quality of work.

  • Address any punch list items prior to project close-out.

Project objective:

  • To enhance the appearance, durability, and functionality of the public restroom facility by repainting the exterior, thereby contributing to a clean, welcoming, and well-maintained public space for residents and visitors.

Project deliverable:

    • Documentation of cleaning, sanding, priming, and any minor repairs completed prior to painting.

  • Completed Exterior Paint Application

    • Full application of weather-resistant exterior paint in accordance with town standards, with a minimum of two coats for full coverage.
